About Starfish Swim School

Star Fish Swim School was established in 2003 by Ann Shidler. Ann is an expert in the latest swimming teaching and safety techniques and has been featured on NBC Nightly News, CBS 4, Colorado Parent Magazine and other various news channels and radio stations.
Star Fish Swim School’s philosophy and goal is for children to feel and be safe in the water. Therefore, techniques such as throwing children into the water are NEVER practiced. These are dangerous techniques that are not conducive to learning how to swim, but rather to fear the water.

Starfish Swim School is progressive in its instruction techniques. Due to class size being small, each child gets individualized attention to meet their learning needs and skill level. Our expert instructors are focused, hands-on, respectful and caring. No child is to begin learning any swim skill that we do not feel they are ready to learn.
We welcome all skill levels and offer continuous, daily classes year round. All of our classes are small to maximize instructor time and our pool is warm to increase comfort in order to let the children focus on their lesson instead of shivers and to prevent hypothermia.

We have detailed information about our philosophy and teaching techniques, memberships, awards, Ann and our Staff on their dedicated pages of this site under About Us.
We welcome you to Starfish Swim School and hope to see you pool side!
